Super 3D Dungeon Boards Kickstarter Pictures

Hello!

I know everyone is chomping at the bit for pictures and updates!!

Here they are! :)

Boards are coming along nicely and packaging is on its way.

I am on schedule currently for the unpainted boards to be shipped the end of this month.

Please add any final add-ons through BackerKit that you may want to. I will be locking the BackerKit add-on this Saturday the 13th.

All the bottles showed up a few weeks ago and are getting filled with colored goodness.

Here are the pictures of all the sample painted boards and a big ol' pile of bottles. :)

The Kickstarted ends Jan. 29th 10 am. PST so if you are interested or know some one that might be now is the time!

Finished painting Tile #3 and thought I would share it with everyone :)

Here is a high rez version of the tile, with just the edge cleaned up after taking it out of the mold and the pillars set on it. In this picture the tile has not been laminated to the wood backing yet.

Final stretch! More add-ons, molds, and castings.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/92980796/super-3d-dungeon-boards

We are coming up on just over two days left!

I put up the add-on for the resin bases for miniatures. As a $15k stretch goal one set of these will be included for free with any pledge over $100!

We received the vacuum chamber from the metal fab shop and have started to make some of the larger molds.

Picture of the glove mold being made of one of the board tiles. Multi-layer glove molds take a few days to make. Hopefully I can have a board cast and painted before the end of the KS, but these things take time and we are moving into molds for final production on all the tiles.

Kickstarter Update: Pictures of final boards!

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/92980796/super-3d-dungeon-boards

Here are the pictures of the final boards! Board tile #6 still has some parts being made for it but the pictures will show you exactly what it will end up looking like. I've also made #6 much more functional and interesting, turning the corners into rooms instead of blocked off solid stone.

I've also made a material change. While working with the various materials I realized that most, if not all, of the industrial foams you can get now take many hours to dry. So I switched the interior to a resin/micro-bubble slurry. This works out better though because it will be MUCH stronger than any foam filler and will simplify production.

Typically with resin you need to wash the parts before you paint them. If you are receiving unpainted tiles they will already be washed. After they are washed and dried they are laminated to the wood boards. The whole point of the wood backing is to provide a structure that is not heat susceptible. The last thing you want are boards looking like potato chips when you get them out of a hot car! You will still need to wash the smaller parts that will be attached to the board tiles.

I also added a loot pile add-on.

Next up is making molds of the final boards and getting some painted versions up for everyone to see.

Thank you to everyone that has backed this project and that may be thinking about it!

Kickstarter Update

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/92980796/super-3d-dungeon-boards

The final boards are almost completed. The columns in these pictures are just temporary as the final ones are being constructed and will have much more detail and weathering. I am finishing up the treasure piles, wall sconces, and other small details for the boards, and will have pictures of the completed boards up soon. I just wanted to share these.

As you can see the walls, floor and "lava" have much more detail and texture than the prototype boards. These will be impressive indeed once painted!

I went and made some potion bottles and loot trackers to go with my boards. Here are some quick pics and I made a little tutorial on making the bottles over here. Enjoy!

Lots of traffic of the Super Dungeon Explore boards :)

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. I spent it running games at our local Super Winter Mini con. There was a Warmachine Domination release event that I ran. (BTW I am a PP Pressganger too. Pg_Menelker), Warhammer 40k Tournament, Malafaux tournament (Which I won. Yeh Neverborn!) and of course Super Dungeon Explore!

People had a blast playing on the 3D boards.I have to say they they are holding up nicely and people seem to love playing on them. It is fun seeing people walk into a con, see this bright red thing from across the room and walk over ignoring everything else and ask "What the heck is this?" Usually I would reply with, "Have you ever played Gauntlet? and most of the time they would say "What is that?"

Usually I would reply with "Damn kids, know your history!" Well at least I would in my head. After that I would go on to explain it and see if I could get them to play. It made for a fun weekend.

Also on the SDE front I did an interview for Table Top Geeks for the 3D Super Dungeon Explore Boards. You can see it here.

Also Soda Pop and Cool Mini or Not picked up the pictures and posts on their Facebook pages :)

I have more SDE stuff to come. Just need to get caught up on some painting......

Finished 3D Painted Super Dungeon Explore boards

I have my Super Dungeon Explore boards all finished up! Just in time for the Mini Convention we are having at Cal Poly this weekend. I still have to make a board for the loot tracking, but that can wait till next week.

You can see more pics of them here

The new pictures are the red ones farther down the page. The brown ones are my Descent boards that I was using as a stand in for pics of the minis.

Super Dungeon Explore custom boards

I am getting closer to having my custom Super Dungeon Explore boards finished. I have them all base coated with the red/orange theme I am going to be using. Some of the boards closely duplicate what came with the game and others I have just built on the fly. Now I just need to go in and do all the highlighting, lighting effects and lava. They should be a blast to play on once I get them all finished up!

Right now they are a little shiny from the spray paint, but that will be dulled down for the final product which will let them photograph much better too.

I one of the pictures you can see our bunny Cricket running around too.

Got more Hydrostone!

I finaly tracked down some more hydrostone locally. Shipping on this stuff is more than double the product cost so on-line realy was not an option. I picked up a 100lb bag so I should be good for a while. Now it is back to casting parts for my Super Dungeon Explore boards. I have a covention I will be running it at next weekend so I need to get busy if I am going to finish 5 boards in 10 days!
