Yeah the old 3.5 confrontation rules was the best game I have ever played, although it was full of meta rules thats what made it fun imo, a game with 11 modles would take as long to play a regular game of 40k and the old metal minis were the best, now they are made from rubbery plastic and the rules are crap from what I hear, some corporation bought them out and ruined the game, its sad when I think about it.
Wow, that's the most poorly informed statement about C4 I've ever seen.
C4 was produced before the new corporation bought Rackham and made it into Rackham Entertainment(which happened last year in October, C4 came out almost a year before that even happened). Also, it's not "rubbery plastic". Yes, it's a softer plastic than GW uses, but it's a harder plastic than Wizkids used. The C4 rules aren't crap, either. It's the same rules used for AT-43, plus a magic/prayer system and some additional rules to better represent fantasy elements and to make melee more effective.
If you haven't tried C4, you really should. It's a different system than C3/3.5, but it's a faster, more efficient, clearer system than previously(much of that to do with how good Aaron Gilbraith is at translations).
As for why it's plastic and not metal now, that was a decision Jean Bey(founder of Rackham) came to because of the things you can do in plastic(like translucent wings on the Chimera and the upcoming Gargoyles) that you can't do in metal(interesting fact: the plastic models use the EXACT SAME molds as the old metals). Not that there's anything preventing people from using the old metals if they own them or can find them.
The Undead look amazing, BTW, and the army is brutal(I got to watch Aaron fight Martin Terrier[Rackham's Community Manager] with them at GenCon).
Probably all the vitriol you've heard about C4 come from those people who feel betrayed somehow about the transition from metal to plastic.
Tyson, if you want to get involved with Confrontation, wait until October when the Lion and Wolf Army Boxes are released. Just like AT-43, they're full 2000 point armies for $70.
